William Leonard Charles - A Great man that will be missed.

William Leonard Charles 1925 ~ 2007 William Leonard Charles was born Dec. 21, 1925 and died Dec. 1, 2007 due to complications of Alzheimer's.Although he referred to himself as "Wild Bill," we lovingly called him husband, dad, pa, great-grandpa, uncle, friend, and neighbor. Bill always had something up his sleeve and a project in the works. Bill was born in Tooele but also lived in California. He spent his adolescence in Panguitch and it was there that he met and married his high school sweetheart, Mae Cooper. They were married May 29, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. A World War II Veteran, Bill owned Tem Distributing Co. and worked for United Airlines. He retired after diabetes took away his eyesight. He never let blindness stop him and could "fix cars without even looking," and taught himself to play the piano. Bill was known for his Packard and was a talk radio fan. He was a brilliant person and could do anything. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Thelma (Anderson) Charles; sister JoAnn Kirk; and son-in-law Ted H. Green. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 1/2 years, Mae Cooper Charles; daughters LaRee (Robert) Devitt and Jan (Ted) Green; favorite son William (Charlotte) Charles; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 6th at 11 a.m. at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street. Friends may call upon the family on Wed. Dec. 5th from 6 until 8 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Bill's family would like to thank Dr. Scott Southworth and the loving care of Orchard Cove for their dedication to Bill.
