3 alarm blaze across the street.
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Dozens were evacuated after a three-alarm fire erupted in a South Philadelphia factory Monday night.
Fire crews were called to the A&P Laminations factory near 2nd and Reed Streets after reports of heavy fire at about 8:30 p.m.
Chemicals in the factory, which makes laminates for kitchen cabinets, fueled the flames forcing firefighters to battle the blaze from a nearby rooftop.
Nearly 100 firefighters were called to the scene of the three-alarm fire, which was brought under control at about 9:45 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Approximately 32 residents in the surrounding area were evacuated. Officials said at least two homes were damaged by the intense fire.
Those displaced were allowed back to their homes after officials determined the air quality was safe.
The Red Cross said they are caring for just one person displaced by blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
